Responsibilities
You will lead a team of Web Developers and QA specialists, while managing multiple projects. Lead the team to improve performance, availability and scalability of services we provide. You will conduct reviews, creatively resolve problems, overcome challenges, and serve as the direct line manager with input and feedback on performance.
- Overall development lead
- Through technical leadership ensure that applications are scalable, easy to manage, stable, optimized for maximum performance, and reliable
- Lead version control, conduct design and code reviews
- Manage multiple web development projects using departments standard project process and project management tools
- Guide and assist development team members to ensure on time, high quality production deliverables
- Communicate project status, resource constraints, and any open issues
- Ensure team members complete cross skill training and professional development as needed
- Recommend process improvements to management
- Maintain good rapport with other leads and team members
- Maintain state of the art knowledge of relevant industry tools, protocols, methodologies, and technologies
- Works with internal and external clients to develop and execute solutions to business problems
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as Senior Software Engineer or Senior Web Developer.
- Experience managing the development and delivery of commercial websites.
- Experience managing or leading a team preferred
- Ability to interface with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience designing and implementing in an SOA environment.
- Ability and eagerness to learn technology and applications that support and enhance the higher education industry.
- Commitment to providing high quality professional services to the higher education community.
- Is able to manage multiple clients, with multiple needs, in an efficient and effective manner.
- Works with internal and external clients to develop and execute solutions to business problems.
- Self Motivated with the ability to work in a fast pace environment.
- Thorough understanding and experience in:
o XHTML and HTML
o CSS (style sheets)
o JavaScript, jQuery, and ability to work with 3rd party libraries such as MooTools
o Integration of front-end code into a Content Management System
o Photoshop
o Knowledge of web standards
o Flash, including Action Script 3.0
o C# and ASP.NET – 5 years
o eCommerce
o MS Sharepoint and Dynamics experience a plus
o XML and XSLT
o Experience with information architecture practices and deliverables
This position is based in Buffalo, New York and reports to the Manager of Professional Services. Relocation and remote status will not be considered.
